Manuscripts to be submitted to the AAMBEJ for possible publication should be prepared according to the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (7th edition). To reduce bias in language, manuscripts should discuss individuals with respect and accuracy. To further minimize bias in language, manuscripts should be logically organized and clearly written in language that can be easily understood by readers.

Manuscripts submitted to the AAMBEJ for publication should be original contributions and must not have been previously published or currently under consideration for publication elsewhere. However, a paper that has been presented at a conference will be considered for publication, provided that it is revised and expanded by incorporating more than 50% new material in the manuscript. Toward this end, authors should include the statement “An earlier version of this paper entitled [title] was presented at [name, location and date of conference]”.

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
• The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
• The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
• The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
• The text adheres to the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (7th edition).
